West Ham United fans are absolutely gushing over Kurt Zouma following the win at Everton on Sunday afternoon labelling the defender so good it’s ‘a joke’.
The Hammers were deserved winners at Goodison Park.
And David Moyes exacted a measure of revenge for a defeat by the same scoreline at the London Stadium during the run-in last season which proved damaging for the club’s hopes of a Champions League spot.
West Ham didn’t quite click as an attacking force and were wasteful in the final third.
So it took centre back Angelo Ogbonna to step up and glance home the winner from a Jarrod Bowen corner in the second half.
It was his new defensive partner Zouma who stole the show, though.
The £29 million man has been brilliant since joining from Chelsea in the summer.
But the Frenchman was on another level against the Toffees – where he spent a season on loan previously.
Zouma won absolutely everything in the air and on the deck and had a 96% passing accuracy as he put in another excellent display.
The 26-year-old threw his body on the line to make three crucial blocks – two of which looked like being almost certain goals.
After the game West Ham fans took to social media to rave about Zouma, with many struggling to split him and Declan Rice for man of the match.
And a large number of fans said Zouma is so good it’s ‘a joke’.
