Andriy Yarmolenko is unlikely to have his contract with West Ham renewed according to a report from Football.London.

The 31-year-old joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund in 2018 for around £17 million (The Sun).

Unfortunately, however, Yarmolenko has proven to be a really poor signing for West Ham.

The 102-capped Ukraine International has suffered terrible problems with injuries.

Even when Yarmo has been fit though, he just hasn’t produced the goods consistently enough for West Ham.

His playing style is not suited to the robust and intense nature of the Premier League. And it appears as though Hammers boss David Moyes could be ready to move him on from the London Stadium.

The East London outfit could be prepared to let Yarmo’s contract run down and lose him on a free transfer next summer.

That way, West Ham won’t be getting any money in for him but we will be getting his £115k-a-week wages off the books. That should help Moyes enormously in his search for new signings next year.

Things just haven’t worked out for the Ukrainian at West Ham.

It’s a shame because he has genuine talent. He has been incredibly unfortunate with injuries as well, but there is no room for sentiment in the Premier League.

And our wage-bill will certainly be in a lot better place once Yarmo is moved on.
