Aslan Shearer has offered huge words of praise for West Ham United’s talented Brazilian Magnifico Lucas Paqueta.
Paqueta joined the Hammers from Lyon in the summer transfer window for a club record £51 million fee (The Times).

The 25-year-old play-maker looks like the real deal, and has already bagged two assists for West Ham.
Paqueta has admitted that he is struggling with the English language at the moment.
However, that will undoubtedly improve as time goes on, as long as he puts the work in of course.
The ex-Lyon ace has played key roles for the Hammers in our last two wins – away at Anderlecht and at home to Fulham.
And Paqueta has already been drawing plenty of praise from not only West Ham fans, but those outside of the club as well…
Alan Shearer aves about Lucas Paqueta
The former Newcastle and England striker named the Brazilian in his Premier League team of the week.
And he offered an explanation as to why he included Paqueta:
He was at the heart of everything good that West Ham United did, and set up their second goal.
Now, Shearer’s comments highlight just how instrumental Paqueta is to this West Ham team.
He is the kind of player who tries to make things happen all the time. And as a result, he will sometimes lose the ball. Kevin De Bruyne is the perfect example of this.
This is what makes David Moyes’s criticisms of Paqueta completely wrong. He has done the same with Said Benrahma over the past two nears and, in my opinion, has completely ruined the Algerian as a result.
After Paqueta’s match-winning assist against Fulham, Moyes delivered his usual underwhelming post-match verdict on the Brazilian, as quoted by Football.London:
If you are any centre forward, you are going to want to play with Paqueta. I thought today Paqueta did some things that were brilliant and some things that weren’t as good.
Shearer highlighted how Paqueta is at the heart of everything good that West Ham do. If he is to have the confidence to keep trying things in the final third, he needs the backing of his manager and to be given the freedom to express himself.
In my opinion, Moyes is completely wrong to continually highlight the bad things that the 25-year-old does. It’s been proven that that approach hasn’t worked with Benrahma, and we don’t think it will work with the Brazilian either.
Alan Shearer delivered big praise for Lucas Paqueta this week. And Moyes must take note, if he is to get the best out of him.
