After just 53 games for West Ham, Hammer could now join 3-time English league champions

West Ham United are quite clearly desperately trying to move on players before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Julen Lopetegui has overseen a terrific summer transfer window for West Ham so far, with eight new players coming into the London Stadium.

The West Ham fans are buzzing with excitement about what the future holds for us, and the West Ham boss has insisted that he’s after even more new signings.

However, in order for that to be a reality, the Spaniard needs to get rid of some of the fringe players on huge salaries.

There are way too many players at the London Stadium right now who earn far too much money, without contributing to the cause.

And one of them could be moved on before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Friday.

West Ham striker Danny Ings set for exit

The Hammers are doing everything possible to get rid of the former Southampton, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Burnley hitman before deadline day.

In fact, it has even been suggested that West Ham could release Ings, just to get his wages off the books.

The 32-year-old’s best days are in his rearview mirror, and a move away from East London seems to be a formality now.

But where will he end up?

Leeds – three-time English league champions – are keen to sign Danny Ings this summer according to a report from talkSPORT journalist Darren Whitcoop.

If the experienced front-man leaves the London Stadium to move to Elland Road within the next few days, it will be great news for us.

Lopetegui will then be able to go out and sign a big upgrade on the 32-year-old.

Danny Ings worst West Ham signing ever

Let’s not beat about the bush here – Ings has been absolutely atrocious for the Hammers over the past 18 months.

In 53 games for West Ham, he has scored only four goals and registered just two assists – a woeful tally by anyone’s standards.

However, it’s not just his poor record in front of goal that has been disappointing, his whole attitude hasn’t been good enough.

In my opinion, Danny Ings didn’t work hard enough for West Ham last season, and that lack of work-rate impacted his ability to succeed at the London Stadium.

The sooner we manage to get rid of him the better as far as I’m concerned. Getting his £125k-a-week wages off the books will be hugely important for Lopetegui.

Hopefully Leeds are able to agree terms with Ings before the transfer window closes.
