David Moyes could be replaced as West Ham United boss by one of the most exciting managers in world football right now.
West Ham manager David Moyes guided us to our first major trophy since 1980 last season, but things have turned sour this term after a really poor run of form.
The Hammers began the season on fire, but a dire run led to reports suggesting the 60-year-old was really close to losing his job.
However, two consecutive wins before the international break have greatly alleviated the pressure on Moyes’s shoulders. That’s not to say that he’s bulletproof though, with widespread reports claiming that he will be moved on at the end of the season.
One of his potential replacements is allegedly Arne Slot – the current Feyenoord manager who’s pulling up trees out in Holland.
West Ham were really struggling back in April this year, with relegation a very real possibility at the time, and sources inside the London Stadium suggested that the Dutchman could replace the Scot at the London Stadium.
And now it seems like the Hammers could make another move for Slot…
David Moyes walking on thin ice at West Ham
90 Min journalist Toby Cudworth has provided an update on the current managerial situation at the London Stadium.
And he suggested that Arne Slot is the frame to take over from Moyes, when speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast.
I think that the Feyenoord boss would genuinely take West Ham to the promised land – he is that good, and the football would be sensational to watch as well.
He is a superbly talented manager, who deploys a really exciting brand of attacking, expansive and easy-on-the-eye football.
And it seems as though the football that the Dutchman deploys is the thing that has really caught the Hammers’ owners eyes.
He really is one of the most exciting up and coming managers in the game today. Feyenoord won the league under Slot’s guidance last season, so there is plenty of substance behind his style.
The Dutchman also took his side to the Europa Conference League final in the 2021/22 season, only to lose to Roma in the final.
Slot deploys an attacking brand of free-flowing football at Feyenoord and I think he’d be the ideal man to usher West Ham into an exciting new era of success.
He predominantly uses a 4-2-3-1 system but also switches up to a 4-3-3 at times. Slot’s managerial style has been likened to Marcelo Bielsa (The Express).
The Feyenoord boss likes his full-backs to push high up the pitch with his two centre-back’s splitting and a ‘ball-playing’ goalkeeper essentially becoming a third defender.
This fresh, innovative approach to the game would take West Ham to another level in my opinion, and he’d be a superb replacement for David Moyes.
