The West Ham United owners have a clear plan in place for manager David Moyes, according to one reporter.
David Moyes is nearly four years into his second stint as West Ham boss, but rumours of his potential sacking are refusing to go away, with names like Michael Carrick being touted as potential replacements for the Scot.
The Hammers manager guided us to our first major trophy in 43 years last season, but a poor couple of months this term has led to reports suggesting that he is dangerously close to losing his job at the London Stadium.
However, back-to-back wins against Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest really eased the pressure on Moyes…but for how long?
If West Ham embark on another poor run of form, the 60-year-old will undoubtedly be feeling the heat yet again.
It just feels like Moyes is fighting a losing battle all the time when it comes to his hopes of a long-term stay at the London Stadium…

West Ham owners make David Moyes decision
It seems as though the Scot will part ways with the Hammers in the summer of 2024 – something that was actually planned for this summer just gone before the owners were forced into making a big U-turn.
When speaking on the It’s All Coming Up podcast, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel shared how Moyes is only still at the London Stadium because of last season’s Europa Conference League triumph:
“I think he’s going to depart. All the information that we have indicates he will depart at the end of this season. I think there was a plan to do that last summer, at the end of last season, for him to move on, but them winning that European trophy the Conference League spun that direction on its head a little bit. How can you open the door for your head coach to leave when he’s just landed you your first trophy in decades? David Moyes deserves a lot of credit for turning that narrative around last season.”
The problem with this way of working is what if Moyes guides us to Europa League glory? Or what if we win the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup?
He’ll undoubtedly be offered a new contract again. If the West Ham owners genuinely want to take this club forward, I think everyone can see that they need to appoint a young, progressive manager to replace David Moyes.
That was obviously the plan last season, but the Scot guiding us to European glory forced the club’s owners into a swift 180 about turn.
It remains to be seen what happens next summer, but all the noises coming out of the London Stadium suggest that Moyes is a dead man walking…unless he can pull another rabbit out the hat again.
