Afrobeats star Omah Lay has just offered huge praise for West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma.
Omah Lay spent the day with West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma at the club’s Rush Green training ground.
Lay, 26, was born in Nigeria, and has gone on to establish himself as one of the world’s biggest Afrobeats stars.
Zouma, 29, has African heritage, after his parents emigrated to France from the Central African Republic before he was born, and he is a huge fan of Afrobeats it seems.
The Hammers skipper told WHUFC.com:
“I’ve told him how much my family, kids and wife love his music. I love his music as well, and now I’m lucky enough to meet him as there’s so many people who would wish to see him. Our backgrounds are connected, growing up with brothers, sisters and families in difficult areas. You have to go and provide for the family, and that’s what he has done and what I’m still trying to do. That’s what has brought us to the same vibe and why we’ve got a strong connection.”
Lay, whose songs include the likes of ‘Godly’, ‘Understand’ and ‘I’m a mess’, is quite clearly a very big fan of Zouma as well…

Lay spoke to reporters during his trip to West Ham’s Rush Green training Ground yesterday.
And the Nigerian offered huge words of praise for both the Hammers, and Zouma:
“It is awesome [Rush Green], and it’s amazing to be here, I’m really impressed with the set-up. I see things like this mostly in video games, and it’s exactly what I have on FIFA. London is just that place, a vibe, and a city full of great people. We have a bunch of Nigerians in London who follow my music as well. Football is so important to me and is something I watch when I can. Life on the road doesn’t give me enough time to be on the vibe as much as I would love to, but football is a game and sport for everyone, and if it’s not football, then what else? He [Zouma] is such a vibe. It’s my first time meeting him, but you can tell how much we sync and the similarities we’ve got. I think he’s an amazing person and is doing an amazing job in defence for West Ham.”
Whilst Zouma has been a terrific player for West Ham on the whole over the past two-and-a-half years, he certainly hasn’t been doing a good job for us this season.
He has regressed badly over the past six months it seems, certainly from a physical perspective.
The injury prone 29-year-old can barely move at times – far from ideal when he’s playing in a comeptition as intense and frenetic as the Premier League.
Afrobeats star Omah Lay is clearly a big fan of the West Ham captain, and he was obviously going to say complimentary things about him when he was in his company.
Every Hammers fans will know that the Nigerian’s comments are a long way from the truth though.
