West Ham starting XI vs Arsenal confirmed; Graham Potter makes some major calls

West Ham United take on Arsenal in the Premier League this afternoon, and Graham Potter has named his starting XI for the game.

Arsenal are 15 games unbeaten in the Premier League, so West Ham‘s task of getting a result today will obviously be a very tough one.

Graham Potter will be well aware that improved performances will mean nothing if he doesn’t get results to back them up.

That said, the Hammers’ performances have been poor as well recently, especially during the 1-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend!

West Ham are said to be lining up some exciting summer transfers, including a potential move for soon-to-be free agent Jonathan David.

However, Potter’s immediate remit will be to get his side playing with some real intensity, aggression and genuine quality.

A few wins would be nice as well.

Our chances of getting all three points today against Arsenal may well be slim, but it’s not impossible.

Here’s how he’s chosen to set up against Arsenal, as confirmed via the club’s official X account:

Alphonse Areola, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Cresswell, Ollie Scarles, Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen

That’s a decent team, but I strongly feel like the players won’t have enough to beat Arsenal this afternoon.

Potter has handed Ward-Prowse and Scarles their first Premier League starts of the season for West Ham, and I’m looking forward to seeing how both of them fare.

The best we will be bale to take from the game is a hard-fought draw in my opinion.

Despite the fact that the Gunners are missing four of their best attackers, they are still an awesomely well-drilled outfit.

They will be well up for this one as well, as they hunt down Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

I’m hoping to see a much-improved performance from West Ham against Arsenal, and the starting XI selected by Potter should be capable of giving us that as a bare minimum.
