West Ham United midfielder Carlos Soler was handed a start against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Soler joined West Ham on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024.
The 28-year-old has been incredibly poor for the Hammers though. And it has been claimed that Soler definitely won’t be at West Ham next season.
That’s no surprise at all – the Spaniard has proven to be terribly ill-equipped for the speed and intensity of Premier League football.
West Ham would have to pay just £16.5 million to sign Soler on a permanent deal this summer, but that obviously won’t be happening.

The fact that Graham Potter is giving him regular minutes is utterly bizarre, given the likelihood that he will not be at the London Stadium next term.
West Ham fans react to Carlos Soler’s display vs Southampton
The Spaniard was utterly awful against Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday.
He was cowardly in the tackle, didn’t offer anything going forward and his passing lacked any kind of ambition.
The Hammers fans weren’t impressed one little bit with the former Valencia midfielder’s performance against the Saints.
One West Ham fan said, “Soler is pathetic.“
Whilst a second Hammers supporter had harsh words for the Spaniard as well, “Soler isn’t anywhere near good enough.“

The Soler pile on continued as another West Ham fan said, “That was an absolutely pathetic attempt at a tackle from Soler, no commitment at all and just pulled out of it.“
Meanwhile, a fourth fan questioned the 28-year-old’s inclusion in the starting lineup, “Soler literally offers nothing. Why on earth is he starting over Soucek (our joint highest scorer)?“
Then a fifth Hammer heavily criticised Soler, “How Southampton are not 1-0 up… Soler pathetic attempt to tackle the player.“
Whilst a sixth West Ham fan said, “Boos at the whistle. Complete inability to get the ball forwards in midfield. Soler and JWP ineffective. Think I’d bring Guilherme on for the second half.“
And a seventh Hammers supporter suggested that Soler should have been hauled off by Potter:
Carlos Soler stats for West Ham vs Southampton
Soler made no key passes, had no shots on target, attempted no dribbles, won zero aerial duels and made no interceptions (Who Scored).
It’s like West Ham have been playing with 10 men when the Spaniard has started for us.
West Ham head coach Potter simply shouldn’t be giving minutes to Soler between now and the end of the season.
The 49-year-old should throw a youngster into the team instead.
Soler’s performance against Southampton on Saturday was nowhere near good enough.
