Yet another major Carlos Soler U-turn after stunning new transfer fee claim emerges

Carlos Soler joined West Ham United on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024.

West Ham do not have an obligation to buy Carlos Soler, and it has actually been claimed that the Hammers are ‘highly unlikely’ to sign him on a permanent deal from PSG in the summer.

The 28-year-old midfielder has failed to make much of an impact at the London Stadium this season.

However, Soler has recently hinted that he would like to remain with West Ham beyond the end of the season.

With Graham Potter now at the helm, and Lucas Paqueta set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the Spain international may well have a genuine chance to prove himself.

Soler needs a consistent run of starts, and he has to be deployed in his favoured central midfield role, if he is to succeed with West Ham.

Will he get that chance though?

Yet another major Carlos Soler U-turn after stunning new claim

If the Hammers are to sign Soler on a permanent deal in the summer, he needs to show a lot more during the final 13 games of the season than he has done already.

West Ham are said to have an option to buy the Spaniard.

So it’s certainly possible that he will be at the London Stadium next season.

According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham will be able to sign Soler this summer for a bargain £16.5 million fee.

That feels like a no-brainer to me.

Carlos Soler has shown the West Ham fans what he’s capable of, but only in spurts.

His performances against Fulham at home and Chelsea away really caught the eye, but he doesn’t seem to consistently produce the goods throughout entire matches.

It would be a good start if Potter starts playing the former Valencia man in his strongest position in the middle of the park.

Whether Soler is given that chance or not remains to be seen though.
