Big Carlos Soler twist as Spaniard breaks silence about West Ham future

West Ham United signed Carlos Soler on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Carlos Soler is a likeable character, but he just hasn’t done enough on the pitch to warrant West Ham signing him permanently in my opinion.

That said he is clearly doing his best to settle into life at the London Stadium.

Soler endeared himself to the Hammers fans by going to the London Stadium and sitting alongside the supporters to watch our game against Brighton in December, after he was suspended for the match.

The former Valencia midfielder has struggled to show us all what he’s really capable of on the pitch though.

In fairness to him, he’s been played out of position on the left wing far too much. If Soler is to show Graham Potter what he can do, he needs to be deployed in the middle of the park.

However, it looks like he might not get that chance.

It has actually been claimed that the Hammers are ‘highly unlikely’ to sign Soler on a permanent deal from PSG in the summer.

If Soler has anything to do with it though, he may well stay in East London…

Carlos Soler twist as Spaniard breaks silence about West Ham

The 28-year-old midfielder’s future at the London Stadium is uncertain to say the the least.

He certainly hasn’t made a hugely positive impression with West Ham.

But it’s clear that the club and the City of London in general appeal to the Spaniard.

When speaking with El Desmarque, Soler dropped a hint that he would like to remain with the Hammers beyond the end of the season:

“The first two days I got on the pavements, there is not much mystery. In Paris they drove worse, when I go as a pedestrian there, I have more problems,” he said.

“I can walk around the street quietly and that’s cool because you can blend in with the people and live a normal life. It’s all very quiet, I also take the metro a lot.”

So he clearly prefers London living to what he had to deal with in Paris.

The final decision will be with the West Ham owners though.

No matter how much the Spaniard might want to stay at the London Stadium, if the club don’t want to sign him permanently, he’ll be sent straight back to Paris Saint-Germain.

Carlos Soler just hasn’t done enough when he has played for West Ham in my opinion.

And as things stand, I think he’ll be left dissapointed if he really does want to remain with the Hammers for the long-term.
