West Ham centre-back Craig Dawson absolutely dominated Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan during our 1-0 win at the London Stadium yesterday.

The 31-year-old originally joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Watford in October 2020 at a cost of just £1 million. West Ham then made his move to the London Stadium a permanent one for a further £3 million in the summer of 2021 (The Sun).

£4 million for the no-nonsense, tough-tackling centre-back now seems like an absolute bargain.

What a brilliant signing he has proven to be by David Moyes. Especially considering how much criticism the Scot got from some sections of the West Ham fanbase when he brought the experienced centre-half to East London 16 months ago.

Dawson’s stats this season make for some really impressive reading.

The 31-year-old has made 24 Premier League appearances for the Hammers so far this term and has scored two goals. During those outings, Dawson has averaged 3.8 clearances, one interception and 1.2 blocks per game. He has also won an average of 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

And the former Watford man proved himself once again yesterday against a very dangerous player who Moyes actually wanted to bring to the London Stadium.

West Ham ace Dawson made big statement against Wolves

Last summer, David Moyes really wanted to bring Hwang Hee-chan to the London Stadium according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.

Bruno Lage ended up bringing the 26-year-old to Molineux in the end though and he has made a big impact for Wolves.

The South Korean has scored five goals in 18 Premier League appearances for the Black Country outfit (Transfermarkt).

Dawson kept the Wolves forward quiet throughout the entirety of the game yesterday though. What a performance and what a man!

Against Wolves yesterday, Dawson made one tackle, two interceptions, nine clearances and won three aerial duels (Who Scored).

The 31-year-old was a really dominant figure for West Ham against the Black Country outfit and he had the shackles on Hwang Hee-chan for the entire game.

Dawson is already a real cult hero at the London Stadium. He continues to defy the odds week in, week out.

And his performance yesterday was one of the very best that he has put in for West Ham since moving to East London in 2020.
