Two West Ham players should not be anywhere near a Premier League starting XI after their performances against Southampton.

The Hammers were extremely lacklustre in the first-half against the Saints and went into half-time 1-0 down.

West Ham were much better in the second-half and were more than deserving of the point in the end.

In fact, we really should have won the game, quite comfortably in truth.

Those are the matches that we really should be winning, if we want to finish inside the top seven again this season.

On the whole, it certainly wasn’t the worst performance of the campaign to date.

However, there were two players who were incredibly poor, and not for the first time this season…

Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek were horrendous today.

The 30-year-old right-back was far from convincing defensively, and offered us absolutely nothing going forward.

Coufal has been an absolute shadow of his former self over the past 6-9 months, and his form is a real concern.

The same can be said of his countryman Tomas Soucek.

The 27-year-old midfielder really slows down our play through the middle of the park with his ponderous, laborious playing style.

Soucek never takes the ball on the half turn and his first touch always comes back towards the direction of the player who has passed to him.

From 36 passes attempted, Soucek recorded an incredibly poor completion rate of 63.9% (Who Scored).

The Czech Republic international is really becoming a huge liability to this team, just like Coufal, and the sooner that David Moyes realises it, the better.

The fact that the club didn’t cave and give the pair new contracts is great. One swallow doesn’t make a summer, and that has proven to be the case with both Soucek and Coufal.

Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal are two West Ham players who should not be anywhere near a Premier League starting XI.

And Moyes must drop them for our game against Liverpool on Wednesday, if we are to have any chance whatsoever of leaving Anfield with a positive result.
