West Ham boss David Moyes was very angry after his side’s 3-2 defeat to Southampton at the London Stadium yesterday.
The Hammers are currently in the midst of a really concerning run of form that has seen us take just five points from our last seven Premier League games.
We have fallen outside the top four and now it’s very much a case of getting some wins in order to stay in the race for the top six.
It’s away games at Watford and Crystal Palace up next for West Ham. Nothing less than four points will do if we are to get our season back on track.
Hopefully yesterday was just a complete anomaly.
David Moyes blasts West Ham after Southampton defeat
The Hammers allowed the Saints to stamp down their authority on the game from the very first whistle.
The players just didn’t look to be up to the task and despite a decent second-half fightback, Ralph Hasenhuttl would have thought that his team were more than deserving of the three points.
Moyes spoke to WHUFC.com after the game and used one word in particular to describe the West Ham performance:
“It was rubbish… rubbish from the start.”
The Scot then went on to discuss the reasons for the Hammers’ poor display…
“We were flat in the opening part of the game, for what reason I have no idea but we were. We didn’t really get anything out of it, the amount of poor decisions and passes we made, we didn’t press well, so lots of things didn’t go as well as we’d have liked.”
Whatever the reasons were for the shocking performance are now irrelevant.
The West Ham players really need to lift their levels for the next two games. They could completely shape our season.
Six points and we’ll be right back in the mix for the top four. However, lose both, or even draw both, and the rot really will have begun to set in.
We know how good this West Ham team can be. The boys proved that during the first three months of the season. It’s time for them to give us something to shout about again. At least we only have to wait until tomorrow before our next game!
