West Ham play host to Manchester City at the London Stadium this afternoon in our Premier League opener.

Hammers boss David Moyes has made five quality signings this summer including the likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and Nayef Aguerd.

Meanwhile, City manager Pep Guardiola has signed Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez. The champions have lost Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, however.

We all know how good Man City are though and the West Ham players will have to be at their very best if they are to get a positive result this afternoon.

West Ham starting lineup vs Manchester City

Moyes has opted for pretty much the strongest team he could have chosen this afternoon.

Aguerd is obviously out injured whilst Angelo Ogbonna isn’t quite match fit yet. Craig Dawson appears to have picked upa slight k nock as well so Ben Johnson will fill in.

Gianluca Scamacca has to make do with a place on the bench whilst Maxwel Cornet wasn’t registered in time to play today.

Whatever happens, the West Ham players cannot afford to make any mistakes this afternoon.

Hopefully the London Stadium will be rocking and we give the champions a real game, just like we did last season.

The West Ham starting lineup vs Manchester City selected by Moyes should give us a chance to do just that, as long as the boys stick to the game-plan.
