Paul Merson has voiced doubts about ‘stuttering’ West Ham as pundit delivers prediction ahead of Tuesday night’s Watford clash.

West Ham face the Hornets as the Premier League resumes at the London Stadium.

The game is massive for both teams with West Ham desperate to return to winning ways and stay in the mix for the European places while Watford need every point they can get in a bid to avoid relegation.

The Hammers go into the game off the back of consecutive Premier League defeats and having only just scraped past National League North side Kidderminster in the FA Cup.

Watford played out a turgid 0-0 draw with relegation rivals Burnley in a catch-up game at the weekend.

The visitors have appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager and signed several new players since West Ham beat them 4-1 at the end of December.

So Watford threaten to be a very different proposition for David Moyes’s side this time around.

And speaking on SportsKeeda ahead of the game, pundit Merson has voiced his doubts over ‘stuttering’ West Ham as he delivered his prediction for the Watford clash.

“I was impressed with Watford the other day against Burnley,” Merson told SportsKeeda.

“They were the better team throughout the game and they dominated their opponents.

“Roy Hodgson was brought in to do a job, and he did exactly that on Saturday. They’ve barely kept a clean sheet all season, but I think they set a base against Burnley and were really solid.

“West Ham are stuttering a bit in the Premier League and could find themselves in a bit of trouble here. Watford pass the ball around very well and could give West Ham a run for their money this week. 1-1.”

West Ham can actually go back up to fourth place in the table with a draw depending on Man United’s result at Burnley.

But given the games in hand West Ham’s top six rivals have on them Moyes knows his side must be looking to win this one, especially at home.

It will be no easy task given the circumstances at the club right now and the talent in the Hornets forward line.
