Major Chelsea boost as ‘special’ 28-yo reportedly could return from injury vs West Ham

Mateo Kovacic has not played for Chelsea since January 15th, but he could be set to return to action against West Ham United tomorrow.

That’s according to Football.London who claim that the 28-year-old midfielder is in contention to play some part for Chelsea against West Ham tomorrow.

The Hammers welcome the Blues to the London Stadium tomorrow for what is a hugely important game for both sides, but for very different reasons.

West Ham are in real danger of relegation, and desperately need a win in order to pull away from the bottom three, Meanwhile, Chelsea are in the midst of a terrible run of form having taken just six points from their last six outings.

Graham Potter’s side need to put a run together of four or five wins in a row in order to get back into contention for the Champions League places.

Chelsea have already been boosted with the news that Wesley Fofana could return to action tomorrow. In addition to that, Denis Zakaria could be in contention to play against the Hammers as well after being pictured in training.

And now it seems as though the Blues have been handed yet another boost…

Football.London reckon that Mateo Kovacic could be set for a return to action at the London Stadium tomorrow after four weeks on the sidelines through injury.

The 28-year-old midfield is crucial to the way in which Graham Potter wants his Chelsea team to play.

His technical ability and composure when in possession of the football really is second to none.

The Croatia international has been described as a ‘special’ player by Breaking the Lines, and he is absolutely vital to the way that Chelsea play through the middle of the pitch.

The 28-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most important players that Potter has at his disposal at Stamford Bridge.

And if Mateo Kovacic is ready to play tomorrow, it will be a massive boost for Chelsea but a blow for West Ham at the same time.

David Moyes has his own injury problems at West Ham, so let’s hope that we get some positive news later today during there Scot’s press conference.
