A gushing Lincoln boss has paid ‘outstanding’ West Ham the respect they deserve after their captain’s comments ahead of the cup tie.
West Ham travel to Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night.
This will be an eighth game of the new season for the Hammers in all competitions.
After their Europa League opener on Thursday night, West Ham were away at Liverpool on Sunday and now face League One Lincoln on Wednesday night in what we traditionally know as the League Cup.
That’s before the hectic schedule continues with another three-game week sandwiching a second European group game next Thursday.
Being in the top seven of the Premier League, competing in Europe and facing a third 50-game plus season is the mark of how far West Ham have come.

Although the Lincoln City captain does not appear to hold the Hammers in particularly high esteem judging by some strange comments ahead of the game.
His manager certainly does, though.
Because a gushing Lincoln boss has paid ‘outstanding’ West Ham the respect they deserve after his captain’s comments ahead of the cup tie.
Fans of a certain age will remember Mark Kennedy from his days as a Republic of Ireland international who started his career at West Ham’s bitter rivals Millwall before going on to play for the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Wolves and Palace.
Despite his skipper appearing to underestimate West Ham, Kennedy has waxed lyrical about the east Londoners ahead of the match.
“Looking forward to it, obviously we have an outstanding team coming to our home stadium, incredible manager, huge history and obviously we’re going to have a full house,” Kennedy told the Imps’ YouTube channel.

‘They just tick so many boxes… they’re outstanding – man for man – across the pitch’
“Yea! (It is one of the best West Ham squads in recent history that we’re going to face). Look at the end of the day there’s two big leagues between us, they’re an outstanding team, a very, very good Premier League side.
“And David (Moyes), God I dread to think how many games he’s had as a manager… right up near the top end of managers and games. Hugely, hugely successful.
“They just tick so many boxes – talent, technical ability, physical presence, they just tick all the boxes and they’re having an outstanding season this year already with some very impressive results.
“We’re going to have to be at our absolute best and hope they have an off day. It doesn’t matter who they play (in the team on the night), they’re outstanding players man-for-man in every area of the pitch.
“Just to use an example if (Lukasz) Fabianski comes in (in goal), he’s an OUTSTANDING ‘keeper with incredible attributes. So it doesn’t actually matter who plays – we’re going to be up against a top side.”
