Konstantinos Mavropanos scored a bullet header for Greece last night and the goal should get the West Ham United fans really excited.

West Ham signed Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart in the summer for around £20 million (The Evening Standard), and the goal he scored for his country offered us all a glimpse of what we can expect from the defender…from an attacking perspective!

Hammers boss David Moyes is well-renowned for setting up his sides to be a real threat from set-pieces.

With James Ward-Prowse at the club, we already look like we’re going to cause our opponents all sorts of problems this season.

The 28-year-old already has two assists directly from corners, with centre-backs Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma benefitting from his pinpoint deliveries.

And now, West Ham could become even more of a threat it seems…

The 25-year-old was in action for Greece against Gibraltar last night.

Greece won the match 5-0, and Mavropanos scored two goals – both of them headers:

Can you imagine how dangerous we’ll be with Ward-Prowse whipping in crosses and Mavropanos attacking them!!

These are really exciting times for the Hammers, with David Moyes having made some excellent summer signings.

The towering Greek centre-back is one of them, and I expect him to be a big player for us over the next few years.

Perhaps Konstantinos Mavropanos will be just as important in the final third for West Ham as he will be defensively!
