Daniel Kretinsky initiated a new contract being handed to West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek, rather than David Moyes.
Tomas Soucek‘s current contract was set to expire in the summer of 2024, although West Ham had the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months – until Daniel Kretinsky stepped in that is.

The 28-year-old is obviously a key man for Hammers boss David Moyes.
However, it seems as though it wasn’t the Scot who initiated a new deal for big Tomas…
Big £15m star claim suggests one man is pulling the strings at West Ham, it’s not David Moyes
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Hammers co-owner Daniel Kretinsky forced through a new deal being handed to his countryman Soucek.
Now, if that is indeed true, it proves that Moyes does not have the final say on new contracts being handed out to certain players.
That’s certainly not ideal for the Scot is it?
The 60-year-old brought Soucek to West Ham for about £15 million from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2020 (Daily Mail), after he spent a successful four month loan spell at the London Stadium.

He was an instant hit at the London Stadium and played a vital role for the Hammers during his first 18 months with us.
However, the Czech midfielder has regressed over the past two years, mainly because Moyes switched his role in order to help Declan Rice become more of a box-to-box player.
That experiment backfired, as we all know, and hopefully now we’ll begin to see the best of Soucek again with Rice having left to join Arsenal.
However, if he doesn’t improve this season, Kretinsky forcing through a new contract for him may well cause tensions between the co-owner and West Ham manager David Moyes. Let’s just hope that that doesn’t happen.
