West Ham United midfield star Tomas Soucek has declared himself fit for the crunch Liverpool clash after a bad injury against Southampton.

West Ham travel to Anfield on Saturday evening for a daunting match against title hopefuls Liverpool.

The crunch clash is hugely important for Liverpool’s title ambitions and West Ham’s hopes in the battle for the European spots.

The Hammers beat the Reds 3-2 at the London Stadium in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

This time around, though, David Moyes’s side are struggling for any kind of consistency while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have hit top form.

West Ham were dumped out of the FA Cup 3-1 by Southampton on Wednesday night. Liverpool meanwhile eased past Norwich 2-1 for a place in the quarter-finals.

The game at St Mary’s appeared to come at a cost for West Ham with key midfielder Soucek gushing with blood from a head wound.

The big Czech midfielder had to be substituted and received several stitches to the nasty gash.

As a result Soucek was thought to be a big doubt for the match against Liverpool in two days’ time.

But West Ham star Soucek has now declared himself fit for the crunch Liverpool clash after the bad looking injury.

And he says it will take more than that to keep him out.

“More scars in my selection (collection),” Soucek said on Twitter alongside a picture of his heavily stitched forehead and eye area.

“I feel ready to fight again, that’s no fear for me!”

Soucek had looked to be getting back to some kind of decent form following his goal in the win over Wolves last weekend.

But he struggled again at Southampton before he was subbed off with his head cut open.

He is a vital player for West Ham at both ends, though, and his attitude – as we can see here – can never be doubted or questioned.

Some players would use such an injury as a convenient excuse to miss a tough match against a sparkling Liverpool side where West Ham will be on a hiding to nothing.

Not big Tom, though.

It gives Moyes a big boost and Klopp a big problem to deal with, particularly from set pieces.

Let’s hope Soucek is all ok and shows some form again on Merseyside.
