West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the news that Kurt Zouma could return from injury earlier than was first expected.
The 27-year-old centre-back could be ready to play for the Hammers against Manchester United in 12 day’s time according to The Evening Standard.
Zouma suffered a hamstring tendon injury on December 4th during our 3-2 win over Chelsea.
At the time it was claimed that the Frenchman could miss around 12 weeks of action (The Guardian). That would have meant that he wouldn’t return until March. And as the Hammers began struggling with Kurt on the sidelines, there were real question marks hanging over our heads asking whether we genuinely had what it takes to push for the top four.
Results have improved recently, however, in spite of our central defence closely resembling a sieve.
And now there is more good news on the horizon.
The Evening Standard reckons that Zouma is actually six weeks ahead of the original prognosis. And that is brilliant news for West Ham.
David Moyes has been using Craig Dawson and Issa Diop during Zouma’s absence and whilst the former has impressed, the latter has really disappointed.
Getting the former Chelsea man back and available selection as quickly as possible will be hugely important to our chances of finishing inside the top four this season.
West Ham fans react to Kurt Zouma news
With a potential return coming in just 12 day’s time for the 27-year-old there is real reason to celebrate.
Zouma will instantly improve our leaky defence and having him back should help us make the final push we need to finish inside the top four this season.
