West Ham ace Ryan Fredericks allegedly could be set for a surprise return to action for our clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 29-year-old suffered a low-grade groin injury against Newcastle United 10 days ago.

He will allegedly almost certainly miss our FA Cup clash with Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium tomorrow night.

It appears as though he could be available for selection on Saturday at Anfield against Jurgen Klopp’s brilliant Liverpool side, however.

That has to go down as somewhat of a shock considering the fact that he suffered a groin injury only 10 days ago.

In truth, Fredericks has been really poor for West Ham since moving to the London Stadium on a free transfer from Fulham in the summer of 2018.

The problem that David Moyes has is that Vladimir Coufal is will be out for around a month having undergone surgery on his troublesome groin. So the Scot only has Fredericks as a backup for Ben Johnson.

It seems as though we may be well covered in the right-back department for our trip to Anfield, however…

West Ham ace set for return for Liverpool clash

The 29-year-old may well be in the match-day squad for the Hammers’ trip to Merseyside on Saturday evening according to Claret and Hugh.

Whilst Ben Johnson will almost certainly start the game for West Ham at Anfield, it will be handy to at least have Fredericks on the bench.

The former Fulham man is clearly not good enough to be playing regularly for the Hammers in the Premier League.

David Moyes knows that and so do the fans.

He is exceptionally quick, however, and could be a useful option to bring off the bench late on if needed against Liverpool.

Saturday’s game will be a vitally important one for West Ham. Our win against Wolves on Sunday put us in a strong position once again in the race for the top six.

We have 11 Premier League remaining this term. Any kind of positive result against Liverpool would be a huge boost for everyone involved with West Ham.

And whilst Fredericks will definitely not start the match at Anfield, he could very well be included in the squad. And that is at least a small boost considering how weak our substitutes bench has been over the past couple of months.
