West Ham have been handed a huge injury boost with the news that Michail Antonio could be fit to face Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday night.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 31-year-old has a ’50/50 chance’ of featuring for the Hammers in our huge clash with Sevilla in a couple of days.
Antonio limped off the pitch during our win over Aston Villa on Sunday with some kind of leg injury and everyone feared the worst for the West Ham forward.
The former Nottingham Forest ace hasn’t been in the best form since the turn of the year but he’s still incredibly important to the way in which we play.
The initial prognosis on Antonio’s injury was not great and there were whispers that he could be set for around a month on the sidelines. It seems as though there is some slightly more positive news for the Hammers fans to digest this morning though…
Michail Antonio injury news
Claret and Hugh reckon that the injury suffered by Antonio isn’t as bad as first thought.
And the 31-year-old could return from his injury for Thursday night’s clash with Sevilla. That really would be a huge boost for David Moyes, even if he was just on the bench as an option to bring on in the final 30 minutes or so.
Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Sevilla will be the most important match we have faced as a football club since the FA Cup final in 2006.
The West Ham United players proved last week that they are more than a match for the La Liga side.
The London Stadium will be absolutely rocking on Thursday and the fans will have a huge part to play as we try and progress through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
After our win against Aston Villa on Sunday, there were real concerns that an injury to Antonio could disrupt our season.
But the Michail Antonio injury news that has broken this morning is a huge lift for everybody involved with West Ham United football club.
