Arthur Masuaku is a ‘severe doubt’ for West Ham United’s clash with Chelsea this afternoon according to ExWHUemployee.

Masuaku recently returned to action having spent nearly four months on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

The 27-year-old missed our last game against Newcastle, however, due to a build up of fluid around the knee that was operated on.

That is never good news in fairness.

Arthur is a really important to West Ham. He provides David Moyes with a unique option that the Scot doesn’t otherwise possesses.

When Masuaku missed last weekend’s clash with Newcastle, it was believed that he would be back for today’s clash with Chelsea as his knee problem was thought to be not too serious.

ExWHUemployee has shared some disappointing news regarding Arthur, however:

If Arthur is out, David Moyes has two options.

With Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson out as well, the Scot could play Ben Johnson as a left wing-back and bring Fabian Balbuena into the team as part of a back five.

Or, Moyes may decide to play four at the back with Johnson as a left-back and bring a more naturally gifted attacker like Said Benrahma or Manuel Lanzini into the fold.

It is such a huge game for us this afternoon. Win and the Champions League will feel like a very real prospect. Lose, however, and our chances of finishing inside the top four, or even the top six, will begin to fade.

Let’s just hope that Moyes gets his team selection and tactics spot on.

Having Masuaku unavailable for selection will be a big blow for West Ham. It won’t be an insurmountable one, however. The Hammers still have more than enough to hurt Chelsea.

Come on boys, bring home the win!
