Absolutely no sign of exciting West Ham star in training after talk of return following setback for Maxwel Cornet

There is absolutely no sign of exciting West Ham star in training after talk of a return following a setback for Maxwel Cornet.

David Moyes looks to have a near fully fit West Ham squad to choose from for the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The likes of Craig Dawson, Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta have all returned to the fold in the last couple of weeks to seriously boost the Hammers.

And one man who was also said to be making his way back from injury is £17.5m summer signing Cornet.

There was much excitement around versatile Cornet’s arrival from Burnley, where he impressed despite the Clarets’ relegation.

But he has barely played for the Hammers since. Moyes elected to drip-feed the former Lyon man into life at West Ham as he does with most new arrivals.

And when he finally worked his way into the starting XI for the win over Wolves at the start of October, he suffered a calf injury and had to be substituted after just 34 minutes.

Cornet recently returned to training but – as confirmed by Moyes – suffered a setback which delayed his return.

Hopes have been high he might feature in the squad for Palace this weekend after a report from Claret and Hugh said he had a chance of making a comeback.

But there has been absolutely no sign of the exciting West Ham star in training after talk of a return following the setback for Cornet.

West Ham have posted several pictures, galleries and videos on the club’s website and social media over the last week.

And Cornet is unfortunately nowhere to be seen in any of them.

Last night West Ham posted a new video of training at Rush Green ahead of the clash with Crystal Palace.

Most of the first team stars who did not travel to Romania feature in the footage including Lukasz Fabianski, who looks fine after his scare against Man United.

But Cornet is not in the video or any of the pictures posted separately on social media, suggesting he won’t be available again this weekend.

Of course he may have been purposely kept out of shot so as not to give the game away to Palace and Patrick Vieira.

That seems unlikely, though, and Cornet may now have to wait until the end of December to feature for West Ham again due to the impending World Cup break.
