Why is Jamal Baptiste not in the West Ham United squad for the FCSB Europa Conference League clash tonight?

The Hammers are out in Romania for our final game of the group stage in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

David Moyes has taken a really young squad out there.

The only senior players to be included in the squad are Alphonse Areola, Darren Randolph, Nayef Aguerd, Angelo Ogbonna, Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson, Conor Coventry, Flynn Downes, Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals.

There are some really exciting youngsters included in the squad such as Divin Mubama, Oliver Scarles and Kamarai Swyer.

However, there is one notable omission – Jamal Baptiste.

The 18-year-old is extremely highly rated at the London Stadium.

However, Baptiste hasn’t played for the under-21s since September, and that is because he is suffering with an unspecified injury.

West Ham insiders KUMB confirmed that on their website today.

That’s a real shame, because he would almost certainly have started against FCSB nontight, or at least have been given some minutes.

Baptiste played the full 90 minutes for West Ham against Dinamo Zagreb at the London Stadium in the Europa League at the end of last year.

And he played really well. So his injury setback is a really frustrating one for both him and the Hammers fans who would have liked to see him in action.

The question doing the rounds this morning has been – Why is Jamal Baptiste not in the West Ham squad for the FCSB clash?

And now we have an answer. Let’s hope that the teenager comes back fitter and stronger from his latest injury setback.
