On Thursday, we at Hammers News asked our Talking Point users to predict where Fernandes would kick off the 2026/27 season.
Now, Derren Brown may have some competition coming out of in East London.
Because, even before reports of an impending switch to the north west intensified over the following 48 hours, a sizeable percentage felt that the red side of Manchester would be Fernandes’ eventual destination.

At the time of writing, Forty per cent of our readers tipped Fernandes for Man United.
A quarter of you felt that Paris Saint-Germain would win the race, while only 15 per cent tipped Real Madrid to emerge victorious.
It is well-documented that Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Fernandes. However, it has since emerged that Real Madrid are prioritising a deal for Man City captain Bernardo Silva.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Los Blancos would only consider signing both Silva and Fernandes if they sold one of Mourinho’s current midfielders.
“Man United, for me. We need the money as well,” Hammers News writer Antony Martin said via our Talking Points platform. “Obviously, would love him to stay but it just won’t be possible.”
Hammers News believe that Man United are willing to meet Fernandes’ £80 million valuation, though it feels more likely that the Red Devils may look to hit that marker via add-ons rather than with an up-front fee.
