West Ham actually can’t afford to sell flop who has been absolutely woeful this season in the January window.
David Moyes is expected to be a busy man in the January transfer window, with numerous additions needed at West Ham.
The Hammers are really stretched right now, with Nayef Aguerd and Mohammed Kudus currently away at AFCON, Kurt Zouma struggling with fitness problems, Michail Antonio out injured until next month and Lucas Paqueta only just returning to training now.
We really are down to the bare bones, especially in the attacking department, and Moyes’s options could decrease even further still if Said Benrahma is sold this month.
The 28-year-old has been in terrible form for West Ham this season, and he has been heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium.
However, I’m not sure Moyes can afford to let him go in January, in spite of his drastic regression…

West Ham can’t afford to sell flop in January
I’d be all for Benrahma leaving in the summer transfer window, but Moyes surely can’t let him go this month.
He’s an attacking option if nothing else, and with Antonio out and Kudus unavailable for the next four or five weeks, Benrahma will definitely be needed.
The only way that selling him this month would make any sense whatsoever will be if Moyes has an improvement lined up to come into the club.
Benrahma has played 21 games in all competitions so far this term, with only one assist and zero goals to his name. He has played just 615 Premier League minutes (Transfermarkt), and is nothing more than a bit-part player at the London Stadium now.
It’s impossible to argue that Benny has been anything other than utterly disappointing this term. In fact, he’s been worse than that. The 28-year-old seems to be a shadow of his former self, and is desperately lacking confidence right now.
However, the Algeria international still has the ability to make something happen out of absolutely nothing.
And if Moyes decides to sell the West Ham winger in the January window, we really will be thin on the ground as far as our attacking options go.
