It’s that time of the year again when all football fans have to be careful about April fools pranks that may be doing the rounds.

We’ve seen it throughout the years with West Ham, with stories of a potential ground share with Tottenham, to talk of Kurt Zouma being handed a new contract!

However, this is no April fools prank.

Despite the fact that the season feels like it’s over for the Hammers, Graham Potter still has a lot to prove to the fans.

The Hammers boss faces a vital summer transfer window ahead, with potentially only five players from the current West Ham squad good enough to be regular starters next season.

But in the here and now, Potter needs some wins if he is to convince the Hammers fanbse.

No April fools – Carols Soler should never play for West Ham again

West Ham signed Carlos Soler on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Hammers failed to include a purchase option or obligation to buy clause into the deal.

However, it has been claimed that Potter can sign Carlos Soler for West Ham for around £16.5 million this summer.

In spite of that, it has been suggested that there is no chance the Spaniard will be at the London Stadium next season.

Now Potter has a really simple decision to make.

Soler should never play for West Ham again. That means he shouldn’t be getting any minutes for the first-team between now and the end of the season.

Some might say that is a little harsh, whilst others will be suggesting that it is an April fools day prank.

However, what reason is there for giving Soler any minutes between now and the end of the season?

Carlos Soler signing feels like a bad April fools joke

Why should the club invest time coaching and developing a player who will be of no use to us next term?

Any game-time he is given will be completely wasted.

Let’s face it, Soler will not be joining the Hammers on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The 28-year-old simply hasn’t done enough this season to warrant a permanent West Ham transfer.

Potter should be giving minutes to Lewis Orford instead of Soler right now. The Hammers head coach has absolutely nothing to lose heading into the final nine games of the season.

It’s clear to see that the PSG-owned midfielder is a terrible fit for the Premier League, what with his lack of physicality.

This is no April fools prank – the West Ham fans should not have to see Carlos Soler in a West Ham shirt ever again.
