Stunning performance and 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Arsenal was a terrible outcome for one West Ham player, he should never start for us again

West Ham United were absolutely brilliant during our win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie last night.

David Moyes would have been absolutely delighted with his West Ham players for the way they went about their business in the Carabao Cup clash with the Gunners, and it should be clear to him now how he sets up his team every single week.

Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta started across the front-line for the Hammers last night, with Michail Antonio left on the bench.

It made a nice change to see the 33-year-old not leading the line for us – he really has been incredibly frustrating to watch recently.

Antonio has been really poor this season, but Moyes is apparently really happy with his recent performances.

I find that hard to believe, but even if he is thinking along those lines, last night’s all-round performance, movement inside the final third and ruthlessness in front of goal surely made it very clear to the West Ham boss that the 33-year-old Jamaican can never start a game for us again…

Stunning Carabao Cup win over Arsenal was a terrible outcome for one West Ham player

Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta were all sensational last night and gave the Arsenal defenders all sorts of problems that they quite frankly were unable to handle.

The thing is, all of those three players are incredibly fluid and versatile, and they can all operate right across the front-line.

This means that the trio can interchange positions during games, and give the opposition defenders absolute nightmares.

With Michail Antonio leading the line, we seem to be far more inclined as a team to just punt the ball into the channels for him to chase. Our build up play definitely isn’t as intricate when the Jamaica international starts and let’s face it, we were far more clinical in front of goal last night as well.

Without trying to sound too harsh, Antonio should never be starting a game for West Ham again, after last night’s Carabao Cup win provided Moyes with the blueprint for success.

Micky has been a great servant for us over the past eight years, but it’s clear to see that his time as a Premier League starter has come to an end, in my opinion anyway.

The former Nottingham Forest man should be used as nothing more than a squad player going forward. Bowen, Paqueta and Kudus could be a dream attacking trifecta for us.
