The Premier League and ignorant Sky Sports get exactly what they deserve from West Ham and Brighton on Tuesday evening.

If ever there was any doubt the powers-that-be really don’t care a jot about football fans it came in the scheduling for the clash between West Ham and Brighton.

Despite all the time off many fans enjoy over the festive period, West Ham’s top six clash against Brighton was ridiculously moved to January 2nd – when most supporters go back to work after an expensive Christmas and New Year.

Travel is difficult for midweek games as it is. So an evening midweek match with the trains and travel disrupted by the weather just added insult to injury.

David Moyes bemoaned the scheduling before kick-off, saying it had denied him the services of his African players Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd.

Although the former is believed to have a slight injury anyway.

But as we all know fans matter little in the modern game.

And the Hammers and Seagulls faithful who turned out at the London Stadium endured a pretty turgid affair.

West Ham’s lack of ambition without so many key players was clear throughout.

It meant the Premier League and ignorant Sky Sports got exactly what they deserved from West Ham and Brighton.

And that is one of the worst games of the season so far.

In a strange way it’s almost poetic justice for the brainless planning behind this entire fixture.

Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates and pundit Jamie Redknapp constantly mocked the drab clash.

Laughing and smirking as they took repeated digs at the lack of quality and energy on show.

They clearly completely missed the point that it is their employers and the Premier League almost entirely to blame.

What did they honestly expect?

You would like to think it would teach the Premier League and Sky Sports bigwigs a lesson.

But fans have been bottom of the priority list in the modern game for far too long now. So it’s highly doubtful.
