West Ham acted way too late and didn’t try hard enough, with recent report claiming Youri Tielemans agrees Arsenal move.
Back on December 5th, Marca claimed that the 25-year-old has agreed a deal in principle to join Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
This is hugely frustrating, because Tielemans is exactly the type of central midfielder David Moyes needs at the London Stadium.
The Scot tried to bring the Leicester City star to West Ham in the summer.
The Scot should have acted sooner and with more authority though. Offering Leicester a transfer fee for Tielemans in the summer, perhaps somewhere in the region of £20-30 million may well have tempted them to cash in on the Belgian.
That would have enabled us to steal a march on our rivals in the race for the midfielder’s signature. Alas, that didn’t happen, and now it seems to late…

If Marca’s recent report is correct, and Tielemans does indeed join Mikel Arteta’s ranks at the Emirates next season, it will highlight a big mistake from Moyes and the Hammers.
The 25-year-old is an elite talent and would have taken us to a whole new level entirely.
Tielemans is a creative central midfielder with an exceptional range of passing. He is full of energy and has proven that he is very well suited to the English game.
He has bagged 27 goals and 25 assists in 175 games for Leicester (Transfermarkt).
The former Anderlecht and Monaco ace’s intelligence and awareness of space and his teammates’ runs would have improved the attacking play of West Ham drastically.
The Belgian has been described as an ‘incredible’ player by Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers (The Independent).
Meanwhile, The Analyst have labelled him as a ‘really gifted’ midfielder.
Tielemans has produced the goods for Leicester on a consistent basis but it’s clear that it’s time for a new challenge for him. A move to London may well be on the cards this summer.
Unfortunately for us though, it seems as though the Gunners are in pole position to sign the Leicester star on a free transfer.
West Ham should have gone all out for the Belgian in the summer. Now we have no chance, with Marca claiming that Youri Tielemans agrees Arsenal move.
What a shame.
