£47.5 million will duo Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet will be like new signings for West Ham United after the World Cup.

David Moyes paid £30 million to bring Aguerd to the London Stadium from Rennes in the summer transfer window (BBC), whilst Cornet cost the club £17.5 million to sign him from Burnley (BBC).

The 26-year-old duo have hardly played for the Hammers, however, with both of them suffering from persistent injury problems since their moves to the London Stadium.

The two players have forged a really tight bond over the past four months or so.

And having them both back and available for selection when Premier League football resumes will be a huge boost for West Ham…

I for one cannot wait to see Nayef Aguerd back in central defence for the Hammers.

And having Maxwel Cornet as an option in the wide attacking areas will help add real variety to our attacking play.

Aguerd’s pace at the back will enable us to push higher up the pitch, squeeze the game and put the opposition on the back foot.

The Morocco international’s quality with the ball at his feet will be hugely important for us as well, especially with Moyes keen for his side to make the transition into more of a possession-based side, rather than a counter-attacking one.

At the same time, Cornet’s return to action will add some much-needed pace to the team, and offer us a threat in behind the opposition.

When Premier League action resumes after the World Cup finishes, it will be vitally important for David Moyes to get his side playing better immediately.

And in my opinion, £47.5 million duo Aguerd and Cornet will be like new signings for West Ham after the World Cup break.

Let’s hope that the Moroccan and the Ivorian return to action all guns blazing.
