West Ham splashed out £170m on eight quality signings in the summer.
And £50m of that was spent on African stars Cornet and Aguerd.
Unfortunately West Ham fans and manager David Moyes have not seen as much of either player as they would have liked thus far.
Aguerd required ankle surgery after an injury in only his second West Ham appearance of pre-season against Rangers at Ibrox.
The Moroccan defender arrived from Rennes in a £30m deal as West Ham’s first summer signing and – in Moyes’ own words – one of the most important to this new-look Hammers side.
Aguerd recently started light training alone on grass as part of his rehabilitation but is not expected back until – at best – the end of October.
Cornet, a £17.5m signing from Burnley, was handed his first start against Wolves last week. But he lasted just 34 minutes before being forced off with a calf injury which saw him miss subsequent victories over Anderlecht and Fulham.
West Ham fans are buzzing as they watch the quality summer signings slowly but surely knit together in the team.
The likes of Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca are starting to shine. Thilo Kehrer is already a key player. And both Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola are putting pressure on Lukasz Fabianski and Tomas Soucek with their performances when given a chance.
The mood around West Ham has improved dramatically in the space of seven days.

Many observers and some fans wondered whether the much-heralded team spirit Moyes had fostered at West Ham would be impacted negatively by the big turnover of players in the summer.
With 10 or 11 of last season’s first team squad departing and eight new arrivals, it is understandable those questions would be asked.
But this video and recent performances suggest the team spirit at West Ham is as strong as ever.
