Niclas Fullkrug may have done something for the last time ever at West Ham United

Nuno Espirito Santo may not hand Niclas Fullkrug another start for West Ham United again.

The German international came on in the 75th minute as West Ham drew 2-2 with Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Callum Wilson led the line and found the back of the net twice, but was brought off shortly after the half-time interval for Tomas Soucek.

Jarrod Bowen, who started on the right, then occupied a more central role in order for the visitors to grab a third goal.

Niclas Fullkrug seems to have checked out at West Ham

Fullkrug appears set to leave West Ham United in January, but he still has a few more weeks at the London Stadium.

However, his brief cameo against Bournemouth proved that he cannot wait any longer for January to arrive.

He was lethargic, didn’t seem to get out of second gear and barely attempted to close down the opposition or disrupt their passing routines.

While he may have completed three passes in the 16 minutes he was on the field, he lost possession the same number of times, according to Sofascore.

The German also failed to have a single effort on goal and lost 50 per cent of his attempted aerial duels.

This is highly uncharacteristic for a striker who wants to play at a Premier League club.

Nuno is not expected to start Fullkrug again

Wilson’s performance on Saturday showed that he’s someone who’s willing to fight for his spot on the team and give it all for the Hammers.

Despite being 33, he put in a lot of effort off the ball and was rewarded for it with two goals.

Fullkrug, in the 396 minutes he’s played in the league this season, has not scored a goal or provided an assist.

For a player who’s leaving in a few weeks, starting him makes little sense.

Instead, Nuno will give Wilson more time to gel with the other attackers and even if a striker is signed in the coming weeks, he may have to prove why he deserves to start ahead of the nine-cap England international.
