It would be fair to say that Jarrod Bowen, as a West Ham United captain, divides supporters.
Bowen’s quality as a player is not in question, of course. The England forward is a West Ham United legend and that will never change.
Still, Bowen’s leadership style has been questioned by supporters at times. There are some who believe the armband has weighed too heavily upon his shoulders.

While his commitment can never be questioned either, some supporters here in east London just do not believe the 29-year-old is suitable.
However, his stance on taking the club back into the Premier League is a fine response to those doubts.
Bowen seems ready to lead West Ham out of the Championship
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Bowen has reportedly told West Ham he is prepared to stay at the club.
If that is not leadership worthy, then what is?
So often, fans have to hear of players talking about how much they love the club and, frankly, it is little more than lip service most of the time.

However, Bowen clearly cares deeply about the Irons, not least because of the family connection he has through his wife Dani Dyer.
Though nothing is yet guaranteed, staying at the club would be quite the response to those who doubted his leadership.
Indeed, Bowen has plenty of suitors in the Premier League. Though fans no doubt don’t want to hear it, it would be fairly easy for him to demand a move. Some might not even blame him.
However, that currently doesn’t appear to be the case. Bowen, for now at least, appears ready to act on his words and spearhead what is hopefully a promotion-winning campaign.
If that really does happen, no one can doubt his leadership skills ever again.
