West Ham United seem to have a big problem with poor communication between two of our players in particular.

There have been a lot of positives for West Ham to take from the opening five Premier League games this season.

Hammers boss David Moyes has got his team playing some really good stuff this season. There are exciting times ahead at the London Stadium, but we should all be concerned about one specific thing.

The communication between Alphonse Areola and Nayef Aguerd is non-existent and will cost us dearly this season if it’s not addressed.

The Frenchman and the Moroccan were at fault for the second goal that Manchester City scored against us on Saturday. And Moyes has to sort it out as soon as possible…

Communication between two West Ham players in particular is a huge worry

Moyes needs to take Aguerd out of the team in my opinion, and bring in either Angelo Ogbonna – an exceptional communicator and leader – or new signing Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Areola has begun the 2023/24 season in fine form, so it’s hard to blame him for his role in Bernardo Silva’s goal on Staurday.

However, the truth of the matter is that there was no communication between him and Aguerd.

There’s no way that the Hammers boss can drop the French World Cup winner. The Moroccan has to drop down to the bench and buck his ideas up quickly.

The way that we allowed Man City to take the lead really was unacceptable in my opinion.

And the fact that there was zero communication between the two West Ham players made it far too easy for Bernardo.

Moyes has to get Areola and Aguerd working together in tandem on the training ground in order to develop a relationship. Whilst that is in progress though, the Morocco international needs to be taken out of the firing line.
