£69m triple deal in the summer will make West Ham fans quickly forget about Ibrahim Osman

West Ham United failed to sign Ibrahim Osman in the January transfer window, and now Brighton have apparently won the race for his signature.

David Moyes desperately tried to bring Ibrahim Osman to West Ham in January but in the end, we failed to meet Nordsjælland’s £20 million demands for the 19-year-old winger.

And now Brighton have won the race to sign Osman for just £16.6 million, according to a report from The Athletic.

Many Hammers fans are already reacting furiously to the news all over social media, criticising David Moyes, Tim Steidten and the club’s owners for not getting a deal for the Ghanaian youngster over the line.

However, I really don’t think missing out on him is a bad thing for West Ham. He’s only 19 and is totally unproven at the very highest level.

Osman has plenty of potential, there’s no denying that, but there is also a real argument to be made that he’s nowhere near ready for Premier League football.

And besides, I reckon West Ham have far grander plans for the summer anyway…

Triple summer deal will make West Ham fans quickly forget about Ibrahim Osman

The Hammers were linked with moves for three extremely exciting attacking players in January, and I think Moyes could well go back in for them in the summer.

Ajax ace Steven Bergwijn and Sunderland winger Jack Clarke were both chased by West Ham throughout January.

Meanwhile, Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa was reportedly a £22 million target for David Moyes as well.

Bergwijn is apparently available for around £27 million (Voetbal International), whilst Clarke could cost roughly £20 million (The Mirror).

£69 million for those three players would represent exceptional value for West Ham, and they would transform Moyes’s attacking options overnight. They are all proven players and will be able to hit the ground running at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, there are absolutely no guarantees that Osman will succeed at the very highest level.

Give me Bergwijn, Clarke and Gudmundsson at West Ham over Ibrahim Osman every single day of the week. Hopefully Moyes makes it happen in the summer.
