45-yo league winner with innovative philosophy would take West Ham to another level if he replaces David Moyes

David Moyes is currently under real pressure in his role as West Ham United manager, in spite of wins over Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest.

West Ham boss David Moyes has worked wonders at the London Stadium, and guided us to our first major trophy for 43 years last season, although a drop off in form this term has led to reports claiming that he’s close to losing his job.

This time two weeks ago, the Hammers had taken just four points from our last seven Premier League games.

West Ham really were in dire straits and our slide down the table was hugely concerning. The consecutive victories mentioned above alleviated the pressure on Moyes’s shoulders, but it is still widely believed that the Scot will be moved on at the end of the season regardless.

So which manager should come in to replace him? If the Hammers board do head in a different direction to the Scot, it will be vitally important for them to appoint the right man for the job.

We need a younger, more progressive and attack-minded manager to come in and guide us on into a new era of success. So which man is most suited to the job?

One man is perfect to replace David Moyes at West Ham

There have been numerous names linked with the London Stadium hot-seat, including the likes of Graham Potter.

However, I firmly believe that the man for the job will be Feyenoord boss Arne Slot. The Hammers owners were apparently eyeing up the 45-year-old to replace Moyes back in April of this year.

Slot has worked wonders since taking over at Feyenoord a few years ago, guiding them to a league title triumph last term and the Europa Conference League final in the 2021/22 season.

The football that he deploys is really easy on the eye – a high tempo brand of entertainment that the West Ham fans would absolutely love.

He predominantly uses a 4-2-3-1 system, but sometimes likes to switch up to a 4-3-3. Slot’s managerial style has been likened to Argentinian legend Marcelo Bielsa.

The Feyenoord boss expects his full-backs to push high up the pitch with his two centre-back’s splitting to either side and a ‘ball-playing’ goalkeeper essentially becoming a third defender.

In other words his footballing philosophy is the complete antithesis of Moyes’s. Listen, the Scot has done a remarkable job at the London Stadium, and he deserves huge respect for that.

However, I really feel like he has hit his ceiling in charge of the Hammers, and there’s not much more he can do to take us forward, what with his old-fashioned footballing beliefs.

If David Moyes is moved on from his post at West Ham, Arne Slot will be the perfect replacement.
