West Ham player Andriy Yarmolenko was dropped to the under-23s for today’s clash with Swansea’s youngsters in the Premier League Cup.
The Hammers youngsters have been lighting it up this season.

Meanwhile, things haven’t been going so swimmingly for Yarmolenko.

The 32-year-old has really struggled for West Ham so far this season. He has scored just one goal in 21 games for the Hammers in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
The Ukraine international has mostly been used as a second-half substitute by David Moyes and has played only 84 minutes of Premier League action spread over 11 appearances.
Yarmolenko faces an extremely uncertain future at the London Stadium with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
West Ham player dropped to under-23s
The former Borussia Dortmund and Dinamo Kiev attacker was demoted to the under-23s for this afternoon’s clash with Swansea.
Whether that was because of his poor form recently or if it was just to get him some much-needed minutes is unclear.

Either way, today represented a chance for Yarmo to at least send some kind of message to David Moyes and the West Ham fans.
The Ukrainian did exactly that. He scored the opener for the under-23s this afternoon against Swansea. Incredibly, the Ukrainian was sent off just five minutes later! It’s never a dull day in the life of a West Ham fan is it!
Yarmolenko has proven that he just isn’t good enough to be playing Premier League football for the Hammers. Perhaps he has found his level with the under-23s!
In all fairness to him, at least he turned up today and contributed for the under-23s, before receiving a red card of course! That’s certainly more than he has done for the senior team over the past couple of years.
Let’s be honest, Yarmolenko will surely be off in the summer. And getting his mammoth wages off the books will be key as David Moyes looks to make some important new signings in the summer.
