Jarrod Bowen has been a standout performer for West Ham United this season and David Moyes has delivered a surprise verdict on the forward.

West Ham signed Jarrod Bowen from Hull City for around £20 million in January 2020 (BBC), and he has gone on to be a superb signing for the Hammers.

The Hammers boss addressed the media yesterday after our disappointing 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

And Moyes responded when asked what he though about Bowen’s performance, as quoted by The Athletic:

“Jarrod is a lot better than maybe he is given credit for. He’s got a lot of things he’s improving on and he’s getting quicker and stronger. He’s in good form and we need him, like we did at the end of last season. He’s started the campaign really well.”

Now, I think those comments are really surprising to hear from Moyes.

I would say that everyone knows exactly how good Jarrod Bowen is, and not just the West Ham fans.

He will be hoping to force his way into the England squad again, and if he continues his current form for a sustained period of time then there’s no reason why he can’t do exactly that.

I’m sure Bowen will rack up at least 25 combined goals and assists this season and if he manages that, he’ll definitely be in contention to be included in the England squad for the Euros next summer.
