West Ham United manager David Moyes allegedly wants to add Mick Doherty to his scouting team at the London Stadium.

That’s according to Alan Nixon who reported via Patreon that Moyes wants Doherty at West Ham after his ex-Everton colleague left his scouting role at Celtic.

Doherty was the International and UK Scout for players aged between 17 and 21 during his stint working at Everton under Moyes.

He then moved on to Chelsea before becoming Head of Recruitment at Sunderland, when Moyes got the job as Black Cats boss.

And then he linked up with Celtic after his exit from Sunderland. Now, following Doherty’s Celtic exit, it seems as though he could be West Ham bound…

David Moyes wants Mick Doherty at West Ham

Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon that the Hammers boss is keen for a reunion with the scout after he left Celtic.

The Scottish Sun label Doherty as the man who discovered Wayne Rooney, Seamus Coleman and Shkodran Mustafi.

It is claimed by Nixon that the ex Chelsea, Everton, Sunderland and Celtic man is expected to fulfil a role in the senior department of West Ham’s recruitment process.

The Hammers have undoubtedly improved in that particular area since Moyes took charge of the club for the second time back in December 2019.

Ron Newman was appointed as Head of Recruitment at the London Stadium this time last year, whilst Georges Santos and Grant Holt have been added to the recruitment team as well.

The signings that West Ham make are now more well thought out and there is no scattergun approach anymore.

The Hammers made a whole host of exciting new signings in the summer, including the likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Thilo Kehrer, Lucas Paqueta, Maxwell Cornet and Nayef Aguerd.

The future seems really bright at the London Stadium.

And if West Ham manage to get Mick Doherty on board, maybe our recruitment will be even better in future years.

Moyes has already been reunited with Doherty once at Sunderland. It now seems as though a second reunion could be in the pipeline.
