West Ham insiders Claret and Hugh have hinted that David Moyes will be allowed to spend big, if Declan Rice is sold in the summer.
The 23-year-old midfielder is out of contract in the summer of 2024, although the Hammers do have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months.
So essentially, he will have two years remaining on his contract in the summer of 2023.
Keeping Dec at the London Stadium will be essential, if David Moyes is to have any chance of guiding us to any kind of success.
That may be out of Moyes’s hands though, should Rice demand to leave. The worry for the West Ham fans is that the owners may have already spent the money that they plan to receive for the England international next summer, this summer.
It seems as though that won’t be the case though…

Claret and Hugh suggest that selling Declan Rice for ‘loads of money’ would then enable Moyes to ‘seriously strengthen’ his squad.
That’s great news, if it does indeed happen of course.
Moyes spent £170 million on eight new signings this summer just gone, and there were whispers that that money was essentially the fee that will be coming in for Rice next summer.
If Dec is moved on and Moyes isn’t given to refunds to strengthen it will be a total joke.
Preferably, Declan Rice will stay at West Ham for the foreseeable future. If he does leave though, it will be vital for the owners to back Moyes financially.
And after C&H’s West Ham summer spending hint, it seems as though that’s exactly what will happen.
