That’s after a topsy turvy evening which saw conflicting reports with the deal said to have been off at one stage due to a disagreement between West Ham and Chelsea.

But a clear indication that Zouma looks to be on his way to West Ham comes as Chelsea push ahead with their own move for Jules Kounde (Sky Sports).

Should Zouma sign, he will be joining the current Premier League leaders in the fledgling table.

West Ham have history of transfer deals dragging their heels

West Ham have started the season in fine form, beating Newcastle 4-2 and Leicester 4-1.

Crystal Palace visit the London Stadium on Saturday before the September international break.

West Ham have a history of being involved in transfers which tend to be dragged out.

But to get Zouma signed in time to feature in West Ham’s squad for the game, the Hammers face a race against time.

Hammers in race against time to get Zouma deal done and registered for Palace

West Ham must get the deal done and registered by 12pm on Friday in order for Zouma to be eligible to face his compatriot Patrick Vieira’s side.

There has been some confusion over the kind of wages Zouma will be on at West Ham.

But it appears – according to Claret and Hugh – that the 26-year-old will become West Ham’s highest paid current player on £120k per week.

With the deal looking all but official now, Moyes will surely turn his attentions to signing a forward or an attacking midfielder like Jesse Lingard who can also operate as a second striker.

Speculation has been rife that Lingard could now return to West Ham having looked set to remain a squad player at Man United.

West Ham have also been linked with French striker Gaetan Laborde (GFFN).
