West Ham fans should be excited as David Moyes and David Gold prove perfect transfer harmony

West Ham seems to be a club heading in the right direction and it is apparent that David Moyes and the club’s owners are on the same page when it comes to transfer business.

The Hammers boss has recruited incredibly well since returning to the London Stadium.

Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Kurt Zouma have all proven to be excellent additions whilst Nikola Vlasic is beginning to prove his worth.

The loan addition of Jesse Lingard last season was sensational business from West Ham as well. It’s just a shame that we didn’t get him signed up permanently in the summer but oh well, it’s time to move on now.

The January transfer window will be a vitally important one for Moyes and the Hammers owners. If we are to really kick on and make a sustained challenge for a top four spot and succeed in Europe, Moyes needs to sign a top-class centre-back and an established goalscorer before the window slams shut.

Moyes and Gold on same page regarding West Ham transfer business

There have been questions about the commitment to making West Ham better from Gold and his co-owner David Sullivan in the past.

Credit where it’s due though, they have backed Moyes sufficiently in the market over the past couple of years.

David Moyes spoke to Football.London yesterday and reiterated his desire to bring some top-class players into the London Stadium this month:

“Obviously, we are looking for players and we’d like to add to the squad if it’s possible. The board have made it clear that if I want to do it, and we can find the right players they will let it happen. So we’re looking yes.”

And when speaking to Blowing Bubbles last month, Gold said:

“We are still doing everything we can to get the players that the manager wants and there is a really good balance between the board and manager – it’s a positive, comfortable relationship right now. We all have the same desire to bring in the right players, and we’ve already seen the benefits of that and certainly you could argue that last season was partly due to this approach to transfers.”

It’s great to hear that both Moyes and Gold are on the same page when it comes to transfers. All we can hope is that Sullivan is concordant with their ideas.

Talk is cheap though. The actions of the West Ham owners in the January transfer window will prove whether they have genuine ambitions of taking this great club forward.

The verdict is still very much out on that. All Gold and Sullivan can do though is put their money where their mouths are this month.

And judging by the recent comments from Moyes and Gold, that is exactly what they are prepared to do.
