The 28-year-old spent a wonderful four-month loan spell with the Hammers last season.

He bagged nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games for West Ham. Lingard left the London Stadium to return to Manchester United, however.

Jesse seems determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford. He didn’t do himself any favours last night though.

The 28-year-old made a shocking back pass against Young Boys deep into injury time last night that was intercepted and led to the Swiss side scoring the winner.

What an awful feeling for the lad. He clearly didn’t mean to do what he did.

But the lack of concentration that he displayed at the very highest level does not bode well for his future at Manchester United.

West Ham fans plead for Jesse Lingard return

The Hammers faithful want Jesse back at the London Stadium.

We always support our own, and Lingard definitely fits into that category, despite spending just four months in East London.

He is an adopted Cockney. And if Lingard gets stick from the Manchester United fans for his mistake last night then they don’t deserve him.

Come on Jesse, come home.
