Quite what those at the Liverpool Echo have been watching this summer is anyone’s guess.
It certainly hasn’t been the England games, because Hammers ace Declan Rice has been truly brilliant for the Three Lions.
That’s not just us being biased.

Some of football’s most well-known players and pundits have praised the 22-year-old for his displays at EURO 2020 this summer.
Names including Rio Ferdinand (FIVE YouTube channel), Chris Sutton via Twitter and Mark Noble (WHUFC.com) have all raved about Dec this summer.
The role that the West Ham star plays means that a lot of the fine work he does often goes unnoticed. He is integral for the Three Lions.
West Ham fans baffled by Liverpool Echo rating for Declan Rice
Anyone who understands football knows just how important the 22-year-old is to Gareth Southgate’s England team.
The Liverpool Echo rated Dec at 5/10 for his performance last night, however. This is how they described his display:

“Poor again from the West Ham man as he struggled to protect the England defence. Rather fortunate to be keeping his place ahead of Jordan Henderson.”
Bizarre. Baffling. Mind-boggling. What more can you say?
