West Ham missed out on signing Arnaut Danjuma in the summer and that now looks like a terrible mistake after he scored for Villarreal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last night.
Hammers manager David Moyes allegedly wanted to bring the 25-year-old winger to the London Stadium from Bournemouth in the summer (The Sun).

The Scot ended up signing Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow instead, however.
It could be argued that Danjuma was the man we needed, however.
The 25-year-old can play anywhere across the front-line and already has experience of playing in the Premier League.

The Holland international was signed by Villarreal for just £21 million as well (Sky Sports) – more than £10 million less than the total amount we shelled out for Vlasic.
Whilst Vlasic has struggled, Danjuma has gone from strength to strength with Villarreal. And passing up on the chance to sign the Dutchman now looks like a huge error.
Danjuma goal for Villarreal against Bayern Munich highlights West Ham error
The 25-year-old attacker was in scintillating form for the La Liga side against the Bundesliga outfit in the Champions League quarter-final last night.
Danjuma clinically slotted home inside the first 10 minutes to stun the Bavarian giants. It really was a superbly taken goal from the former Bournemouth ace.

Villarreal ended up winning the game 1-0 and now stand a superb chance of progressing through to the semi-finals.
Danjuma’s form this season has been a major contributing factor to Villarreal’s fine form in the Champions League.
The 25-year-old has bagged six goals in nine outings in Europe for Villarreal this term (Transfermarkt).
He has also racked up eight goals and three assists in 20 La Liga appearances (Transfermarkt).
What could have been had we signed Danjuma eh? Let’s just hope that Vlasic eventually lives up to his billing because as things stand, it seems like West Ham made a huge error by signing the Croatian instead of the Holland international.
