West Ham boss David Moyes needs to act after Rio Ferdinand’s comments on Ivan Toney

Rio Ferdinand has absolutely raved about Brentford striker Ivan Toney, and West Ham boss David Moyes should take note.

Moyes brought Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium in the summer, and the Italian looks like the real deal.

The problem for the Scot is that two strikers is quite simply not enough, especially when you’ve got games every three or four days.

In addition to that, Michail Antonio will be 33 before the end of the season. So the West Ham manager really should be lining up future replacements for the Jamaica international.

Ivan Toney is someone who the Hammers have been linked with for quite some time now.

And if Moyes needs any further evidence that the 26-year-old Brentford hitman is the man for the job at the London Stadium, he should just listen to Rio Ferdinand’s comments…

West Ham should be going all out to sign Ivan Toney

Rio Ferdinand absolutely raved about the Brentford striker, when speaking on his Vibe With Five YouTube channel:

Toney has done enough to warrant the big clubs sniffing. He’s in the bracket where it would not be a surprise if a big club comes in and makes a bid. In the Premier League, he has been fabulous. He deserves all he gets.

Moyes should listen to Rio…Toney would be a sensational addition for West Ham either in January or next summer.

Ivan Toney has everything that West Ham need. He has pace in abundance, possesses great movement and is obviously a great finisher.

Standing at 6ft 2in, the striker offers his team a real focal point to their attacking play.

Toney bagged 31 goals in 45 games for Brentford in the Championship in the 2020/21 season (Transfermarkt). He’s now proven that he can do it in the Premier League as well.

The 26-year-old has bagged eight goals and two assists in 11 Premier League games so far this season and racked up 12 goals and five assists in 33 league games last term (Transfermarkt).

Toney would take West Ham to a whole new level entirely. Just imagine him and Gianluca Scamacca together up front!

There is one huge problem that West Ham face, however. The 26-year-old is valued at around £50 million by Brentford according to 90Min.

Ivan Toney would make a huge difference for West Ham. But whether the board are prepared to pay anything like that for the 26-year-old remains to be seen.
